Is Blogging Dead? And What to Do If You Hate Blogging

Free Marketing with Intention Guidebook: www.alissamcdonald.com/guidebook

It’s the question on all of our minds, right? Do we need to be blogging in 2020? Isn’t blogging sooo 2012? I’m going to answer that question in today’s podcast, and I’m also going to tell you what to do if you absolutely despise blogging!

I don’t doubt that you’ll hear lots of people tell you you don’t have to blog- that marketing by putting out content is slow-moving, and that there are faster ways to increase sales in an online business.

People are likely not checking in on your blog every week to see what you’re writing next like they used to back in 2012 when blogging was all the rage!

Yes, blogging is a slow-moving marketing tactic, but it’s also an effective one. (If it ain’t broke, why try to fix it?! Sometimes “old school” is better.)

And just because people aren’t reading blogs like they were in 2012 doesn’t mean people aren’t reading blogs at all now. They’re reading them differently now than they were years ago, and we need to be aware of that and change our approach accordingly.

Blogging, like everything we do in marketing our online business, needs to be purposeful. You would be wasting your time blogging if you didn’t take the time to learn what makes a great blog posts, to reflect on what your readers are responding to, and to make sure your posts are optimized for search and have a clear call to action- just like everything else we do online. You should have a solid content strategy so your blog isn’t confusing and all over the place.
